🧫 The #virus was first detected in 1967 during outbreaks that occurred simultaneously in Marburg and Frankfurt (Germany) as well as in Belgrade (Serbia).
👉 This appearance is linked to experiments made on green monkeys imported from Uganda in #laboratories.
👉 Currently, a small outbreak has just broken out in Tanzania.
👉 It is a filovirus that is part of the same family as the Ebola virus. Human-to-human transmission takes place via direct contact (by scratching or via mucous membranes), with biological fluids as well as contaminated surfaces and equipment.
👉 There is currently no approved vaccine or treatment. Early management with rehydration and symptomatic treatment improves survival.
🔬 Laboratories are an essential link in infection control. In this context, INOVIE AFRICA is a privileged partner in the fight against disease.
